My approach to therapy is looking at each client as an individual. I believe that each person has their own path through life. My hope is to offer some guidance and tools for your journey to make your life the one you WANT to live. I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” method to therapy, but generally use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. I am also becoming certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an empirically proven method to help people recover from trauma.
I view the client-therapist relationship as a collaborative effort. I expect both of us to be equally prepared to engage in the therapeutic process. Together, we will determine treatment goals and develop exercises and “homework” for you to use between sessions. My role is to assist you in reaching your therapeutic objectives while providing a non-judgmental, safe environment.
